Is Cupping Therapy Right for Me?
Our team has found cupping therapy to be incredibly helpful for a wide variety of patients with a number of problems. How Does Cupping Therapy Work?
Once the patient is lying comfortably, we will use fire in order to quickly heat the cups. At this point, the fire will be removed from the cup, and the open side of the cups will be placed on a predetermined section of your skin. While these are usually placed on the back, they can also be placed on the chest, abdomen, buttocks, or legs. The placement of the hot cup onto the skin causes the air inside the cup to cool, creating a vacuum that pulls the skin and muscles into the cup itself. These cups will be left on the skin for several minutes before they are eventually removed.
What Results Can I Expect from Cupping Therapy?
At the end of the session, patients may feel some residual soreness and will experience some bruising in the area(s) the cups were placed. However, results should be noticeable very quickly, especially when used for pain management. Generally, patients are free to return to their normal, daily lives immediately after their treatment.
