Sciatica and Radiculopathy

How Q Factor evaluates and treats this after a collision, fall, or workplace injury.

Sciatica and Radiculopathy
Sciatica and Radiculopathy

Quick answer

What is it?

Sciatica is pain along the sciatic nerve from the low back through the buttock and down the leg. Radiculopathy is the broader term for any pinched spinal nerve. Both are common after rear end collisions.

Understanding the injury

What to expect.

Symptoms from this type of injury can begin at the scene or show up days later. Evaluation comes before any hands on care.

Why it happens

A disc, swelling, or joint irritation presses on the nerve root where it leaves the spine.

How we evaluate

Straight leg testing, reflexes, strength, and sensation. Imaging when the findings call for it.

What care looks like

Decompression and rehabilitation in office, telehealth follow up, and referral to pain management when the nerve does not settle.
